We help people struggling with suicidal thoughts.
Head on. That's it. We help.
And we know there are lots of you out there.
We're a team that come together to helping to address mental challenges, particularly suicidal thoughts, using the power of exercise and togetherness to overcome it, literally one step at a time.
We've been there.
We know how it feels. We really do.
The mornings are the hardest.
Shame consumes you.
Guilt and worry overwhelm you.
You've let people down.
You can't see a purpose.
You just want to stay in bed.
Alcohol probably helps numb the feelings - temporarily.
Exercise is the last thing you either want to do or feel you have the energy to do.
But there's a way. There really is.
Every Saturday morning at 10:30am, a group of us come together and meet at Chertsey Meads. From there we have a short session of interval running and walking; alternating walking for 60 seconds and running. It's easy exercise but unbelievably rewarding, physically and mentally. Along the way we can talk, listen or just be present. From there we get together to talk as a group or just listen. No judgement, no pressure, no expectations, just help. Together. And believe me it works. A bunch of random strangers thrown together by an all consuming common issue; suicide.
So we tackle it together.
If it's sunny, you'll get a tan. If it rains, you'll get wet. And if it snows, all bets are off! But no matter what, we go and go again. Together.
It may not sound like much but it could save your life; and those around you.
Come and join us.
My old job taught me something I never truly appreciated at the time. All it takes is to pull on some trainers as a first step, and that one action can change your life.
